My Closets Taunt Me
May 24, 2012 § 5 Comments
I have more on my agenda for today than you can imagine, yet it’s the thought of putting away my clothing tonight that haunts me most. I’m not sure I can face another round of push/pull/tug make room for my dress in that crush. Oh minimalistic ideal- why hath thou forsaken me?
Time to ramp up the purge process again. Who’s with me?
One section of my closet is in that state. I’m with you! I commit to spending 30 minutes purging that part of my closet today. How about you? We’re going to be feel much better when you purge the excess clothing, Rachel!
Well when you put it like that….You’re on! But I have four closets to tackle and 90% of the contents of each are basic NYC black. Sigh.
If you feel overwhelmed, then I recommend just setting your timer for 30 minutes and start with the low-hanging fruit. Be sure to actually remove the clothes that you decide to purge (i.e. get them to the charity or consignment shop and out of your apartment). I think you’ll be amazed at how much you can get done in a half hour! I’m going to try to remember to take a before picture (something I usually forget). That can be motivating.

Rachel, I set my timer for 30 minutes and went through that section of the closet. I was able to edit enough items that it’s much easier to put clothes in and take them out. And here’s the best part: it only took me 10 minutes! (But it was only a 3′ rod.)
Of course, I forgot to take before pictures.
Have you made any progress in your closet?
